"The student is infinitely more important than the subject matter." - Nell Noddings, Caring, a Feminine Approach to Ethics and Moral Education
This year will be my thirteenth at East Limestone. Teaching is my passion, and I believe that working with today's youth is a privilege. I absolutely love what I do!
My wonderful husband Jerry (a 1979 East Limestone High School graduate) and I will celebrate our 27th wedding anniversary this year! We have four children: Elizabeth, 25; Seth, 23; Anna Leigh, 20; and Joel, 15. Elizabeth is a 2011 graduate of UNA and an English teacher. She and her husband, Daniel, live in Tuscaloosa. Seth and his wife, Chelsy, also live in Tuscaloosa and attend the University of Alabama. Anna Leigh is a student and an aspiring special education teacher. She and her husband, Daniel, live in Athens. (No, that isn't a typo. Both of my daughters have husbands named Daniel.) Our youngest child, Joel, attends 10th grade at Lindsay Lane Christian Academy, and he doesn't know what he wants to be! Last year, Seth and Chelsy presented us with our first grandchild, Isaac!! In June of 2013, Anna and Daniel gave us grandson number two, Michael!! Jerry and I are thoroughly enjoying being grandparents. We have an amazing family, and we are very proud of them all. We are very active in our church where I play the piano and my husand teaches Sunday School.
As for me, I graduated from Clements High School in 1984. I went on to attend a Christian college in Indiana during the 1980s before marrying and having children. After several precious years spent as a stay-at-home mother working part time with preschool-aged children, I went back to college and received a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education/Language Arts from Athens State University. In 2005, I received a Master's Degree in Secondary Education/Language Arts from the University of North Alabama. I was honored to be East Limestone's Teacher of the Year for 2009-2010.
